Hi Everyone,

Just got my new speed triple (black) and after about 30 miles riding, the bike stalled at a corner and would not start again - headlights, display, ignition dead. Pushed two miles home, turned out the ignition fuse was blown. The mechanic at the dealers came out next day and found that a wire in the wiring harness near the headlights had burnt through. The mechanic told me this was the second S3 he'd seen this on - says it is due to overly-aggressive wire cinching. He took it in to get new harness - great service and I am very happy (ecstatic) with this bike! Will be only a few days, but that's ok since it is snowing here now anyway.

I thought I'd post this in case anyone else had this problem.

Great forum and looking forward to posting more!

Sorry you've had a problem so early in your ownership. The bike is really great. I love mine. 1 year old 20.3.06.
Good luck.

Hey, if you can post up pictures or give a more detailed description of where that pinching was happening, I'm interested in looking into that. Now that I'm working at a Triumph dealer, I'm tracking issues like these to see if we can get things sorted so buyers can avoid this sort of issue if possible.

I just took off both reflectors. Both had very tight nylon zip
ties to stop the wire bundle from being pulled out past the
grommet. I was looking for the connector shown in the shop
manual that would allow the lighting pigtail to be disconnected from the main harness. As yet I have not been
able to feel where the connector is ( if it actually exists?).
If I find any other situations I'll post it here. Does anybody
know if the connector is still on 2006's?

kuhlka,

The bike is in the shop now but when I pick it up, I'll get a precise location from the mechanic. I'll also try to find out the location and nature of the other wiring harness defect that he mentioned. I really like this bike alot and I eagerly anticipate its return!
