I believe the latest TOR's map for the 05-06 is 20087.

Aerodynamics don't make THAT much of a different in the quarter mile. Even the Hayabusa's aerodynamics and ram-air intakes don't make much of a difference until it hits the 120+ range. We need someone with a PCIII on their new S3 to get some dyno runs in and a custom map with aftermarket race pipes.

I agree but we also need someone that knows how to tune the pc3 and run the dyno! This sort of black magic is hard to come by, and I don't mean any of the self proclaimed tuners.

So then the torque numbers weren't total bs then, eh kev? Thats the same my bike got on the dyno.

Eh kuhlka you tell me if these are BS #'s. Motorcyclist Mag stock 03 S3 113.7 hp and 78.2 ft lbs. The torque seems high to me. Thats what your bike got stock????????????????

Uhh...my comment about the "aerodynamic" rear on the '02-'04's was a joke.
Apparently, not a very good one... :wink:

No, I was agreeing to this comment;
"Motorcyclist had some BS rear wheel torque #'s listed for a 03 S3. I think they got 70 something ft lbs and 113 hp."
I got 113rwhp and 69 ft lbs. But, that was with a K&N filter, my TOR CF high mount can, and some basic Tuneboy fuel mapping.
That 78 number sounds more like what the 1050 SHOULD be getting at the rear wheel...
I suppose aerodynamics/drag might make a big difference if you've got a 160lb guy on a 955i and a 350lb lumberjack on the 1050, lol. I switched to the t595 tail section, so that must be why mine goes even faster. Now if I could just lose my 30lbs of gut, I'd be good to go.

Man, and I was seriously considering trading up to an 05+ too. If none of you guys come back with numbers showing a big bump up in torque, I'm not going to be trading in anytime soon.

I've never ridden a pre05 S3, but you'd think with the exta 10% cc's that the 1050 would definately be stronger. I have noticed though, that even mag tests, the 955 triples ran the 1/4 faster than the 1050's. Doesn't really make any sense, but I still love my 05! Anyone know why this is?
|
I had the 02 S3 making 112.6hp on the dyno, my 05 S3 feels much stronger. It is a lot torquier down low.
I think the new S3 is more wheelie prone during hard acceleration and it makes it slower on the 1/4 mile.
I love my 05 S3, it handles much better, corners way smoother and wheelies way easier.
Ton Up!

Thanks Tonup, I was wondering about that myself. But I've always heard about the S3 being such wheelie bikes that I figured the 955 would've had the same problem in the 1/4. Anyways, sounds like the 1050 is definately stronger, just not as much as expected IMO. RbtWbbr3044 ended up with 118hp vs Kuhlka's 113hp without about the same mods. But I don't understand those torque #'s, but it doesn't really matter, because mine feels crazy strong down low and I love this thing!!! I'll probably run mine at the local dragstrip once this summer, just to see what she'll do. But since our track is only 1/8 mile, I have a feeling that my time will really suck, but atleast I'll look cool going thru the lights on the back wheel! :-D
