I have '04 Triple Looking for some cold-weather protection for the hands... Was talking with a Tiger rider, He loves the hand/brush guards says he can wear much thinner gloves for the weather.

So has anyone mounted Handguards on a speed triple ? I was looking at the Sportech Speed handguards, These are for atv or snowmobiles .. email to a dealer said they for 7/8" bars.. But I wonder how they fix especially on the brake side with the master cylinder possibly in the way.

Of course a friend said I should just get hippo hands/ATV handlebar gloves, cheap to be warm but that's soo ugly... But I can ride in the cold?

Thanks,
Kevin

Hi Kevin,

And you don't think handguards are butt ugly?

get some undergloves from the ski shop, They are much better than the knitted variety and saves having to wear big thick "can't feel the grips" gloves

worth a try and won't break the bank

I agree with Scouselee on the ugly issue, but then I don't have to ride in zero temps at all. This thread Cycra Handguards will be useful.

ug, can't stand those things. after riding dirt for 34 years, i still hate them. but that's just me.

what about heated hand grips? or the small heat packs inserted into your gloves.

The best looking and cheapest solution I found is a thermometer by the garage. If it's lower than 38 degrees, I don't ride. Above that it's a thick set of gloves. Of course, I'm a wuss when it comes to cold weather.

Ran the cycra's for a bit... Ugly, and somewhat effective. The real solution is heated gloves. I did the Gerbings and they are STELLAR at keeping the hands warm. Perfect for me... No more hand guards.

I'll sell you mine of you want them...

Just a question! Did anyone have a problem with the handguards bumping into the fly screen on 05/06 S3s?

Move to Australia. 90 degrees and sunny today, tomorrow and warm enough to wear thin summer gloves all year. Top roads too. Cold, wet and motor bikes don't go together I don't reckon ! Had enough 4 month seasons living in the UK. Top place this.

OK any job offers for software engineer in Australia? or other warm climates?
Love to move... Wife can stay here in the cold if she wants

OK giving up the handguard idea... Went riding this weekend with a few rats, couple had the heated gloves. I just wish they were not so $$ ... Think I'll get the heated liner or vest too. But Riding almost year round is priceless!
lets see...
Eat and no riding ...
or starve and ride!!
lets ride :-D !! Food's over rated
