Is the S3 still the naked of choice?

It seems the love of powerful naked bikes is only going to increase, spurring further investment from manufacturers and development of new models/improvement to existing lines.

Part of a Speed Triple's charm is the no-bull approach to riding: no assist packages (barr the recent ABS addition) and plenty of hooligan-inspiring torque that has every owner tempted to crack the throttle and fill the horizon with front tyre. I do wonder however if this will be enough moving forward as other marques plow money and development into the segment, blurring the lines between super sport and sport naked performance (Aprilia's maniacal Tuono V4R APRC comes to mind).

There are rumours of a new power plant derived from the 1200 explorer and also talk of a new chassis but to date there has been no discussion of traction control/anti-wheelie or some other kind of technical revolution.

My main question is this: If the next iteration of Speed Triple stays true to the current formula, will it be enough to win your business or will you be tempted by the gadgetry and wizardry of another marque? Is something else already piquing your interest?

after spending the last couple of years rebuilding suzuki gsxrs to make them into streetfighters { vfr single side arm, twin bates lights, twin pipes etc.} then a triumph comes out with a factory fighter with all the hard work done for you i for one dont think gadgets{ abs, traction control} will get peaple that are into proper bikes to move onto other style of bike unles you have had to much of in your face riding .

I can't speak for everyone, but I sure did't get my S3 because of gadgets. I wanted the best, so I got the best! I believe that most of us on the forum will feel the same, but that's just my opinion.

Yup... expect highly biased views here, and rightly so.

Gadjets and wizardry. Hell no, I know I'm old fashioned but I don't even like the new dashboards/information centers. Just give two proper round dials and a coolant temp gage and I'm happy!

The S3 is a great machine. I chose a Benelli though.

i wont be buying another speed triple unless they step up to the plate and and put some serious hp into the motor and lighten the bike about 50 lbs.im thinking a bmw 1000s converted to a streetfighter ans still spend less than a speed triple r

+1 r-b.
However, I realize that electronics are inevitable on most modern bikes. I won't mind so much if 1: I can turn them off or adjust them; and 2: they don't interfere with the experience.
