Steer clear for sure... But if I thought I was going down for $2200 plus a tow and no prives. Sorry, I am running as long as I knew they didn't have my plate. You have to act like you did not know they were there. COME ON, these revenuers need to work for their money....Ps: In Ohio, you can contest the calibration of the radar gun in court, it's your best bet... You live in Agoura Hills, you are one lucky dude. Best roads I have ever seen.

I think the cops in NZ are pretty fair - I ride with one when he's off duty . Most seem to cut riders a bit of slack if they've chosen a sensible time and place to step it up a bit. The only time they're really strict is major holiday weekends when there's a 4km/hr tolerance. No worries with that as there's normally too many idiots on the road anyway, both 2 wheeled and 4!

Yeah, i think thats what irritates me most about the police here in Ozz, you can use common sense and be riding in the middle of nowhere with no chance of causing harm to anyone else and you still ge treated like a common criminal. The common sense is trained out of the police here and they are just revenue raising robots. No wonder most of the public has little or no respect for them. The public aren't all completely stupid and they realize that all the television campaigns are not in their best interest. If "every K over is a killer" then i should of been dead a long, long, long time ago. Like i've said a dozen times, if the powers that be were serious about saving lives then the would restrict all new vehicles to 100 km's an hour. I don't want that, but if they were serious about saving us from ourselves then wouldn't that be logical ?? Then the cops would have to spend their time chasing bad guys instead of revenue, but where's the fun in that ?? Even RACQ can't get an answer to where the revenue goes, it certainly isn't going into our roads ??

I was going to vacation down under and perhaps even move there but neither of those suites me after reading this thread.

On the other side though i've had instances while in Brisbane where the cop that pulled me was pretty decent about what happened, crossed double whites to avoind the front end of a car pulling out, and i got away with it after i explained the reasoning behind it.
The one who pulled me for speeding was decent as well. I was speeding, mind was wandering, and never gave me any grief.
Then again there are the arseholes

Don't let my rants stop you, it's still a great place to ride (I have travelled from Brisbane QLD to Melbourne Victoria on all the best bike roads) and if you don't speed on the highways and keep your fun for the mountains, talk to riders, etc, you will be fine. I have only had 2 tickets in the last 4 years but keep my speeding for selected areas, not the highways. If you ever get to Ozz and end up in Brisbane, look me up and I'll gladly show you around.

I feel sorry for the OP and have ridden that road pretty quick in the past but have stopped in the last 2 years because of the low speed limit and high police presence.
If you do 45+ over the speed limit on a notified double demerit period holiday on a well used, low speed limit, highly policed road you know what the risks are.
45+ over the limit is a big fine, double the 30+ over and 10 times the 10-19 over.
Pity 'cause it is a fun road.

You'll be lucky to get pulled over by someone and get a chance to plead your case soon...
NSW govot have committed to increasing the number of mobile speed cameras from 6 to 45 over the next 24 months, which is a little crooked seeing as one of their election promises was to reduce the numbers of speed cameras. The things are bastards, not well marked, usually parked out of clear sight and can nab you from like 600m away.
