Thanks scoucelee, its a bit of old school but really contrasts well with the all black engine. I left the three holes original black as i had intended to do the whole cover and chrome the bolts but this looks better! I am not a fan of all black engines, probably because i have been used to nortons , early triumphs and harleys. Lots of bling :-D

Did you use anything special, or just take steel wool and then poish with Semi-Chrome? I'm going to do the same thing. That looks great.

Nice look! Did you clear coat the cover after polishing?

Yes i polished it myself , have saw fingers to prove it! First i started with coarse wet and dry 180, then 240,400,600 and finished with fine 800 grade! Use 2 sheets of 180 coarse as the black powdercoat takes a little work to get completely off. The rest is pretty easy. When finished sanding using wet and drypaper (with water) cover looks a bit like brushed aluminium, but then when i polished with autosol (alloy polish) it becomes instantly shiny! Spent around half hour polishing. Well worth it ! You will love the results1 No lacquer applied as its very easy just to go over with a little alloy polish every now and again. You will have noticed that the 3 bolt holes remain black and untouched! Brake reservoir is Rizoma! cheers, steve

Well Steve, since you did such a fine job and have the method down, I'll send you mine to do. It's winter here and I'm not riding much, so I won't miss the cover for a while. Thanks a lot!!
