well, it was cold this weekend so i broke out the tools.
with the help of my uncle who owns a metal working shop, we remounted the license plate underneath the tail, built a new mount for the turn signals, and put on new reverse cone mufflers.

pics and
movie with sound...

Cool! I approve. I wonder if the cops will approve of the license plate position? It certainly make the arse end of the bike look cleaner.

Nice one

What does it do to the performance of the bike - did you fit a power commander?

Like the look of your mirrors too - can you see anything out of them? :-D

hey, i did not fit the power commander. but, the new cans totally opened up the high end of the rpm's. i redlined twice in 2nd and 3rd accidently b/c the bike just got there so much quicker than it had before. it totally woke things up. i highly reccomment that you guys do something to get those old cans off the bike. they weigh what felt like 8 pounds each. and with all that weight in the rear and up top it really changes the dynamics of the bike.

the bike does backfire a lot, and its not the cute puff that it makes with the stock cans... its a full on, neighbor aggrivating backfire. i need to either get the power commander or try the TORS map. but i will for sure have to repack the baffles with something more substantial. it gets really loud at speed.

as for the mirrors... they're just there to keep the cops off my case. i rarely use them and was taught not to when riding. because of how low and short they are, i have to move my elbow to see behind me. but, it doesnt bother, just a formality.

bikeordie, I don't know, but I would bet the TOR map would take care of alot of that. I have TOR's on my bike, and rode it about 100 miles without the remap, and it backfired like a mother*! Now that I have the remap, everything is silky smooth with no backfires! Only problem I have now is, I'm wanting to get something different than the stock look, but it runs so good with the TOR's I don't want to screw that up!

Ordie, you might try Supertrapp mufflers for the volume adjustability. After seeing a fellow 03 with one, I'm seriously considering making an undertail supertrapp.

Nice sound! :-D

A pity that the left silencer is mounted higher than the right one

I like the position of the number plate, but I'm sure the cops in my country don't

Nice mods! The bike looks so much nicer.

I'm looking at your weather and comparing it to what's outside, thinking "I sure hate Winter." It snowed yesterday. Another month before it'll warm enough for anything more than furtive one hour blasts.

Enjoy!
