If you have a notebook/laptop PC (or a desktop in your garage or workshop), all you need is a cable. Read up on it here, get a cable with the FTDI chipset in it, and download TuneECU (it's free). I bought my cable at Amazon, it was about twenty-five bucks.

Cool, I'll definitely look into it.

Put a new battery, fully charged 12.98

Put it in, and bike would not start. Starter kicks out and engages, but bike does not start up.

Cold front just came in finally here in Texas. Tomorrow I plan on repainting my S3. I'll save all that for a different thread...

Changed the fuel pump, and fuel filter.

Drained gas.

Bike fires right up.

but, my voltage regulator is bad, and bike shuts off when I coast to a stop.

What is the cheapest route? Buy OEM? Or a different brand and jumper harness?

Reliable, but not really expensive.

Just don't want another crappy triumph one.

Re: bike starts and shuts off if i dont give throttle

I ran the codes on my bike and got:

P0113- temp sensor
P0230- fuel
P1231- fuel

I could hear my new fuel pump prime. Gave it a shot of starting fluid and it fired up. So it was definitely a fuel issue.

Took out the pump, and noticed that the fuel filter was leaking. The adhesive had come apart from too much pressure I'd guess.

So I'm in my way to get a new fuel filter and see if that doesn't fix my starting issue.

Still have to decide what my best route for the regulator is going to be. Can't wait to be back in the road. Four wheels just aren't cutting it....

Re: bike starts and shuts off if i dont give throttle

New fuel filter, and it fired right up. Idled fine, shut it off and back on a few times. Awesome....

Drove it down the road, about 5 miles, just fine, then the bike acted like it ran out of gas. Would start, but soon die out, again acting like it was out of gas.

I called my wife to bring some tools, and pulled the tank and air box off. Checked out the fuel pump and checked everything. It was good. Started with starting fluid.

Sprayed some in. Put everything together, started the bike, and rode another 2 miles home.

Bike takes a little while to start, but seems to idle fine. If I shut it off, it starts right back up. Not sure what's going on, but I still pull the same codes.

At this point ill be riding with my tools, and some starting fluid....
