Rode 80 moles today in PA. Was in the 60s. I find myself going for rides when it's in the upper 40s. I don't trust myself in the 30s or below... since I know I'll get myself in trouble.

Ride. Would still rather be in the saddle. Pick your days (i.e. avoid the snow!) adjust your riding to the conditions and layer up on the clothing!

It's not the temp so much as road condition here in NH, USA, though we see good stretches of 0 degrees f - 15 degrees f where I live. The amounts of salt and sand that is dumped on the roads can not be imagined by most. That crud doesn't go away untill the first hard spring rains in late April! And we also have legendary "frost heaves" here and broken pavment cracks that run diagonally, across, and longitudinally in our roads that are no word of a lie, 4" across, 4" deep, with 4" elevation changes on the edges. Pot holes are another interesting winter road feature. These show up after a fast moving snowplow chops the top off a frost heave, then traffic will empty the wound of sub surface resulting in a "pot" hole that can be 3" to 12" deep. Some roads posted at 30 or 35mph can only be driven in a car at 20-25mph if you value your oil pan. Call me a sissy if you want but I don't ride during New Hampshire's winter.

I had a nice ride on the Sprint day before yesterday, 60 to start, but dark, dropping temps, and rain on the 70 mile ride home. I have heated gear and a tall windshield for the Rocket, so I ride my Rocket all winter, the other 3 bikes pretty much stay in the barn til spring. Actually, I put a sidecar on the BMW this summer, I want to at least try it in the snow.

This is from a similar thread on this forum, forget his name, but my hero, studded knobbies, check out the temperature on the sign,in Anchorage, Alaska.

I believe that would be my buddy Mark H, who in addition to this studded KLR650, is the proud owner of a 955 Daytona, Ducati 996, and (gasp!) a new Fatboy. He's a sick boy. We put on the Gerbings heated jackets and ride through the end of October in freezing weather, until the first snow fall. Good fun!

So many great spots to ride here

It used to be a great ride before all the terrorist's started doing the trip in their rental cars and crawling along at 50kph.
For me the mountain roads around the Black Spur and Yarra Valley are better and only 20mins from my door.
