I'll ride until the snow falls. after the salt is on the roads, I pack her away until March. I'll ride in colder temps when I've been off the bike for a few months than I will when I'm spoiled with good temps. This time of year I'm getting psyched for skiing!!! That and I'm getting more miles on the MTB!!!

Surprised by how many "bikers" seem to be put off by the winter, each to their own I guess. Roll on a bright, dry winters day and some great miles consumed

When I was in my teens and twenties, I rode year around, because I really didn't have too many other hobbies, besides skiing. Now I spend my free time in the winter riding my Mtn bike, and the skinny bike. Just not into freezing my ass off at highway speeds any more. Plus the roads are crap once they start sanding (Gritting) and putting salt down. Don't worry, I'm still having fun...

When the grit is down, the S3 stays in the garage (the hornet is still used for work sometimes though).
My idea of fun on a bike is not going for a ride and freezing and then cleaning for the next 4 hours trying to get all the salt off the bike!
My mountain bike is out nearly every day to get to work and most weekends for fun as well now until the weather gets better.

Each to there own, pretty cold here today at 0 degrees C, decent amount of bikes out, roads dry and no real cleaning needed. In fairness if I could afford two bikes I would ride something other than the S3 but cash is too tight these days so the Triple gets the job. 35 miles, Coffee a Bacon Butty, then 35 back home today. Cold but enjoyable. They say we might have the worst winter for 100 years so just grabbing an opportunity just in case the forecasters ar correct.

I've been getting in 1 or 2 rides a week here in Jersey , I hibernate once its down in the 40's , all that heated gear is nice , but to me that takes the fun out of it, as does the cold . I just wait for that occaisional nice day during the winter ,otherwise she sits in the garage ...........

No-one going to 'fess up and tell us they ride at -15 degrees C wearing a T-shirt and have fitted home-made spikes to the tyres on their S3 and a special adjustable blind over their radiators?
I was half expecting a 'macho man' to post a reply from the Arctic tundra on how today's generation of bikers are so much mentally and physically weaker than the bikers of yesteryear.
Looks like most folk simply want to get through the Winter and enjoy the Spring 2013 roads?

I'm fortunate that I can ride year long. But, since its a hobby, I generally ride only when the roads are clear. I'd like to avoid coming around the corner to a rock slide or a corner with wet leaves.

Bought myself a heated jacket liner at the bikeshow to go with my heated gloves, may well be back out in jan/feb as long as we get some nice dry days
