Funny you should ask... I just had a LOONNGG... conversation with my dealer about just that thing. They are an authorized Dynajet tuner with all the equipment, techs... bla, bla, bla. Basically the answer was the unit, when used with a stock or even aftermarket exhaust setup, was not really a big bonus for the 05+ bikes with any old map. The stock and TOR maps along with the overall fuel management system is fairly sophisticated in the new bikes.

Now, having said that... he said the major plus of a PCIII is the fact you can get a totally custom map done based on whatever mods you may have done. This is done over the entire RPM range to optimize your setup and motor. His take on the thing was that even though I may have a custom map done with my mods, and you have the same mods and download my map, it's still not going to totally optimize your motor as there are little variances in each motor that can be enhanced or taken out for each motor.

They charge 350.00 for this service + the cost of the PC unit. I am going to get a unit myself and install it and run the Euro offroad map until spring and then have a custom map done. He said he can average about 8-10 hp out of a given tune optimized for the motor. HP costs money... pretty simple really... :-D

I think it has to be done at a Dynatune authorized shop. But I don't know for sure. I know the systems are totally dialed with them. My dealer is one. There are a few specialized things that the "authorized" shops have that help dial the system in. Can it be done by an UN-authorized tuner, most likely. My dealer just happens to be a PC tuner...

Buy your Commander. Run your bike. You won't be happy with the Dynojet Map. I guarantee it.
Tell me what you want out of the bike and how the Commander performed. I'll modify your Map via email and send it back to you. This may take two or three sessions of modifying your Map until you are happy with it.
When I get you running the way you expect the engine to run, take it to a dyno.
This way you only have to dyno once instead of several times at your expense.
I guarantee I can make a Map that will outperform any Map Dynojet offers.

Watch out and be very leery of self proclaimed tuners with a minimum of experience. The school Dynojet offers is good but a good Map all comes down to experience. Most self proclaimed tuners have no experience other than Dynojet school.
These tuners have fried many a turbo Busa engine at the customers expense. I watched mine being fried before my very eyes, at the hands of another. I then learned how to tune on my own. I don't trust anybody with my stuff now, except me.

I would agree with Mad. The process my dealer uses is quite involved and takes the better part of a day. Like I said, they have all the Dynojet material, proper Dyno, AFR real time systems etc. Frankly, when I have my bike dyno'ed tomorrow, as long as the AFR is good I'll probably just leave it alone. I just added Staintunes to my bike and am running the TOR map. Seems to be running very well. Sounds great too.

Tuneboy is supposed to releasing a unit for the Rocket III this month, it might be worth emailing them to see how close they are on a unit for the 1050. If there is anyone left that has a 955 with a tuneboy I'm sure they recommend waiting if it was close.
