Has anyone fitted Quill exhausts to an 05/06 speed triple?
I visited their stand at the recent Gmex show in Manchester
and they were claiming an 8 bhp increase in the mid rev range on the 1050! they are claimed to be UK street legal, but above
4000 or so revs are supposed to become as loud and efficient as a race can. They claim to have had the development carried out by Nottingham university, if the
claims are true it sounds!!! like they have discovered the
holy grail of exhaust technology :???:

Thanks for your imput ES3, although not listed on their
website they do indeed have cans developed specifically
for the 1050. My wife has an 03 fazer she bought s/h fitted
with a quill can, everyone who hears it cant believe that it
is legal. it really does sound good.
On visiting the quill site i realised their can is designated T3
I have to say this is pure coincidence, my logo is based on
the first two letters of a personalised reg. plate. HONESTLY!!!
I would like to ask again if anyone has them fitted and what
they sound and perform like on a 1050. According to the
comments section of their websight, a lot of people are pleased with them, unfortunately no S3 as yet

Just talked to someone at Quill,

The technology you mention is their T3 exhaust which doesn't actually fit the 1050 because its tuned to a certain length.

The one they have fitted is an EVO2 - removable baffle style silencer. The world is that with the baffle fitted it improves the flatspot( I haven't noticed one!) increases midrange and smoothes out the top end. Its a bit louder than stock. With the baffles removed you definitely need a power commander..

I have a Quill fitted to my '03 and it does sound louder but it does not sound as loud as a race can, even above 4000 rpm. Yes it is street legal, but last year I rode by a group of police that were stopping bikes and checking them for such things as race cans and they didn't even watch me go by. Therefore, I can only assume that they did not even think it was loud enough to warrant a second look. As for getting rid of the flat spot, well all I can say is 'what flat spot?'. My bike has never had one. Extra perfromance, well I cannot say about the 1050 but on my 955i it is questionable if there is any noticable performance change.

What the Quill has done for my bike is given it a nice deep rumble that is not offensive, does not attract the attention of the police (I was once told by a motorbike cop that they love race pipes on bikes - it gives them a few minutes warning that someone is heading their way with an illegal exhaust on) but sadly does not have the sound of a race can. Would I buy another one? no, I would buy a race can and take the risk with the police to be honest.

Most gratefull for your advice Freemaxuk and Aggy
I got the impression from Quill that a T3 can was available
for the 1050, but according to aggy, sounds like a wet fart anyway
So! back to my original choice, the blueflame dual port trizoid
and to hell with the local gestapo (I live in North Wales) nuf
