Triumph service bulletin headlight replacement

You might have heard that the headlight lens is cracking on some of the bikes with the new headlights.

Vin 480782 to 526783

Apparently it doesn't affect all of them though as you need to check the headlight lens itself to be sure. On the lower edge of each lens is a manufacturer part number.

Old part numbers
90 5239 R, 90 5340 L

New part numbers
90-5239 R, 90-5340 L

The only difference is the dash between the first and second set of numbers. If you have a dash then you have the updated part.

Great information - thanks! My VIN is in the affected range, but the lights have the dash in the number. Now I won't need to obsessively inspect them after every ride

posted this another thread, but i bought a pair of the 2011+ style lights off a member here and put them on my 2009. I wonder if I could still manage to get the new ones under warranty...

If they don't have the dash. Maybe... but probably not unless they are willing to use the vin number from the bike you got the lights from.

Ok, tongue in cheek here, but to recap, you guys drive next year's model (2013), but you get last year's service bulletins?

Sorry, couldn't resist, ducks for cover.

Could you call him for his VIN? Pretty sure that's all the dealer needs to swap them, all you need then is a willing dealer.
