I agree with you on this point. NOLA motorsports park has a 3360 ft main straight and I can only hit about 135 mph before it starts getting pretty uncomfortable. Real track bikes are getting to 150+ mph. Aerodynamics make a huge difference.

I hate to say this but I can vouch for mine having seen the rev limiter more than once in 6th gear I takes some road but it will get there I can assure you! After 125 it is slower but steadily rising on MPH.
I have ridden with another member here on the forum and I am sure he will say many things about our rides together and taking it easy on the triple would be in that discussion Right Wabbit

also I must respectfully disagree. I am running 18/45, and the bike has a little more "zip", but also is pulled up out of its trouble area of 3500-4500 RPM.

Factory quoted numbers in PS are actually 118, 128 & 147 converted to HP respectively for S3 955, S3 1050 & Daytona 955.
I went from the T509 885 engine at 108 PS (106.5 HP) to Daytona motor at 149 (147HP)
But yes, if you want absolute top speed, the Daytona 955 is definitely going to pull on the 1050 S3 when it runs out of grunt (i.e. power limited) - even if both naked
|
Are you saying the 955 will top out higher than the 1050?
I ride an 06 speedy 1050, my cousin has an 03 955 and I've spent time on both bikes. He can't run with me and I've noticed his doesn't have the hole shot mine does.
We have ran side by side at 135+ and can say that I had room to go.
I am 6'1" 220 and in the gym 4 days a week and at 130 that bike is damn hard to hold on to.

So it actually hit the limiter and was cutting out, or you looked down and saw the revs over 10k?

Which 955 does he have, Speed Triple or Daytona? Big difference.
Either way, the 1050 will have a little more torque in the mid-range and should pull better there; at top-end, the Daytona motor with 20Hp more will have higher max speed.

Wow, I guess I completely blew that one. I did not catch the rev limiter part until now. My bad!
I have hit 10 grand more than once, but not the rev limiter. That we have hit in third and forth but I am not sure about 5th and 6th.

That's what I'm saying about the clocks, they are very inaccurate. The limiter will kick in where ever it's set to. If the clocks are indicating you are over 10k, and no limiter, you are not over 10k
