I've looked high and low and can't find the thread for this, aarrgh! Can someone point me the right way. I can't seem to get the search function to find it either.

I'm trying to install my center stand and some better instructions/pics would help. The two fixing lugs I have are different lengths, should they be the same (length, slightly different shapes)?

Man, it took me a few hours to install my stand. The instructions seemed to be backward with regard to which bracket went on which side, and everything was in german. I can take some photos of my bike's underside if you can't find instructions.

These are the included INSTRUCTIONS found on the twisted throttle site.

The taller bracket goes on the right side of the bike and both have their lobes should point toward the back since the rod that stops the stand from swinging further up goes through that part.

Thanks Kuhkla,

Can you take a pic from the left side? Does the one bracket attach to outside of the front bolt on the suspension linkage? I guess the bolts provided replace the motor mount bolts? Do you know what size torx that is, I may have to use the impact on the outside, the nuts on the motor mount bolts are hard to get to. Did you say before you did this on the side stand?

Yep, I did most of the installation from the right side while the bike was on it's side stand. The stock bolts are replaced with the longer bolts in the kit. I managed to get a wrench on the nuts on the inside as seen in the photo so I then just used a torque wrench on the torx. Using an impact will likely be a futile attempt as the nuts on the backside will just spin with the bolt.

I'm not sure of the torx size, but I just bought 2 sets of sears torx sockets for my ratchet and it was like the 2nd largest of the pack. I can go get the number if you don't have a torx set handy and only want to buy the exact one you need.

I'll clean up the underside of my bike tomorrow and take some pics after my camera's battery is recharged.

Thanks, I bought frame sliders from Skyking and they mentiond a T55 in the instructions, so I've got one of those. I appreciate the pics!

Wow, talk about great timing. I'm about to install a Motech centerstand on my S3 too. Thanks for posting up here, guys. This information should help a lot.

hey Kuhlka, have you ever had any problems with ground clearance since you've put on the centerstand? And, do they make them for the 05/06's? And last question, where did you guys buy yours, and of course, how much? Thanks.

Sorry about the filthy underside of the bike. I'm waiting for the next decent and clear day to get out some warm wather and simple green to give her a good spray down.

I haven't had any issues with ground clearance since the 3-1 collector actually hangs lower than the stand. The legs that stick off to the sides actually tuck in closer than the footpegs too so I've never had a problem with them dragging, either.

97-04 Model S3 Motech Centerstand

05+ Model S3 Motech Centerstand

Both are $199.99 and should be an almost identical install.

The only issue I've ever had was that the chain can sometimes rub the lever that tucks up under the left footpeg if your tension is slack in the chain. This leaves a little scrape mark, on the tube, but not really a problem. Its actually a good way to guage when your chain is slack as it makes an annoying pinging noise when the chain rubs it.
