No, there is no news...only MCN's gradiose predictions and artist's concept. I think most observers accept that a naked 675 is pretty much inevitable, but we'll probably have to wait for September for any definitive word.
One thing I'd be willing to bet on, though...the frame won't resemble the Speed Triple's.

Hrm, a naked 675 is inevitable? I kinda thought they were differentiating the market and segmenting the bikes nicely, 675 for track, 1050 for torquy street riding. I hope it's not inevitable, there is no real benefit to a 675 S3 that I can see.

Unless they make the seat area lower for shorter riders and retune the bike for low-end torque. Then, it might be a stupidly flickable bike in the corners.

I have more fun and can go faster on a smaller discplacement bike. I love the power and torque of the Speed Triple, but it's a little more than I need. So I totally see the benefit of a lighter and even more flickable naked triple with an upright seating position. Plus, it's probably gonna be cheaper than the S3, and no doubt cheaper on insurance. So that's the appeal for me. I for one hope they build it.

the 675 was supposedly putting out 116hp on the dyno at the rear wheels, the Speed Triple puts out about 118 at the rear wheel. The Speed Triple has more torque, but the 675 puts out at 4000 rpm what most 600s including the 636 puts out at peak and is quite a bit lighter than the Speed Triple, so it doesnt need to put out an equal amount of torque... I don't really think a Daytona 675 or a naked version of it will be a "step down" from the 1050, but a nice alternative... since I've ridden the Speed Triple, I guess in March I can let you know how they compare from the seat of the pants perspective...

I'd be willing to bet on a naked 675 of some form at some time, although I doubt we'll see an end to the large displacement Speed Triple soon.
Absolutely the frame will be different. One of the distinguishing features of the 675 Daytona is it's "Over the top" style frame (it seems like all the top Nihon bikes are heading towards this as well). Also, I would look for significant styling changes over both the 675 Daytona AND the 1050 Speed Triple.
Predictions:
Definitely will have dual headlights.
Probably will have dual exhaust, possibly underseat.
Return to the single sided swing arm.
Revised tuning, but probably not really de-tuned. Just altered for torque. OR, punched out to 700cc
Will weigh about as much as a Hollywood Starlet.
Upright seating, with handle bars and a less radical seat.
Inverted forks disappear, (SURPRISE!) but radial brakes remain.
Even less bodywork.
Anybody disagree with any of this?

I hope Crash's predictions hold up. Most of them, at least. I'm not sure that a single-sided swing arm and radial brakes would really serve much purpose beyond styling trendiness. A single arm is heavier and pricier than a dual, for instance, while radial brakes are a nice idea but also are pricey and not yet a mature technology.
A machine like that would not blur any arbitrary niche distinctions, and would not be "just another version" of a Speed Triple, but would make an extraordinarily fun (and modern) standard bike. I can't think of too many others on the road nowadays in that category.
