What are the advantages of shortening aftermarket cans? Is it looks? Sound? Both? I have a TBR C2 and am looking for something louder. Is that what I do? :???:

many factors will determine noise - length of can is one but just shortening it can also make the noise harsher and more importantly effect power sometimes

You may be better off getting something that is designed from the outset to be noisy but to work for power and give a nice tone - the bore of the can and the number and size of holes in the perf tube will determine this

Atriumph, if you just want it louder, try removing the baffles. I personally don't like the sound of aftermarket pipes that have been modified, but if that's what floats your boat, knock yourself out!

Is the TOR can louder than a TBR can? I have a TBR right now. What is the loudest, best sounding can?

I can't say what the loudest is, but I can tell you that the TOR's sound awesome on my 05. But they are not really that loud. Just have a great sounding tone to them. I would think that 2brothers would be one of the louder ones. Anyone here run a wileyco on a pre 05S3? I wonder how they sound?

fyi, hardcore hooligans first cut their cans so the tips dont get scrapped when doing 12 o'clock wheelies.

andrew, i actually know a performance muffler shop in san diego that will do all the cutting/welding for approx. $150.

I don't do 12 o' clocks. Only once and didn't like the feeling.I like to keep it where I have to be accelerating to keep it up.If I did wreck my bike I'd be so ashamed. I would have to go buy some little jap bike that I could trash and then ride around on a primered bike like half the punks around in my area. No class.
I like how my TBR sounds, but I am thinking about something that is louder and as deep sounding. Maybe I'll look at the TOR.
:-g Friday night, good stuff!
