I have nothing to prove and I don't care if you believe me or not. Shell oil in a diesel engine is a completely different application than what we are discussing here. Nobody in the oilfield engine business uses Shell oil and yes, I have proof including documentation and pictures spanning a carrer of 22 years. Because of my experience, I won't use the $hit. You use whatever you like.

Mad, kuhlka, pig9r and anyone else who posted great data (factual information)- thank you. I'm getting out of this thread. I appreciate your input. I learned a lot from it, but I can't sit here and read posts like I'm starting to see here now (you know who you are). So, 'you know who you are', just go blissfully with that 'warm fuzzy feeling' of yours. Pay no attention to any facts presented to you and remember the wonderful quote "ignorance is bliss".

And remember, "oil is oil", "beer is beer", "steak is steak", "***** is *****", add infinitum........ yeah right!

Two words were censored in the last sentence of my last post. Maybe this will get by the censor. They should have said. "pu$$y is pu$$y".

Your screen name makes sense........ You don't state the vehicle, the environmental conditions, mileage, etc, etc.....but you had un-called for bearing failure, and say to shy away from Shell products. Hey, like wow man, I'm sorry for questioning you. How stupid of me to wonder about the actual "whole story" regarding your situation there. My research, study, common sense, understanding of engine operation, clearances, running pressures, viscosity, yadda-yadda-yadda tells me there's more to it than as you state. You make a blanket statement like that and I should have taken that as good enough evidence.....I apologize for being so dumb!! Don't hold it against me. It's an oil thread after all and I could'nt help myself!!!!!!

I totally agree with what you said about advertising mythology, Tex. I've heard bad things about Shell and a few other oil companies in the past though with regard to oil quality, and that sportrider test didn't speak too highly of them either.

At this point, I only put BP or Sunoco in my fuel tank due to the stats I've seen showing where/who they buy their oil from. I have no interest in supporting the whole overseas oil BS and make it known at the pump.

2005 Oil Imports by Company

"2005 Crude Oil Imports From Persian Gulf Highlights: Released on August 29, 2005

JANUARY - JUNE 2005
(Thousand Barrels)

Totals: 1,849,904 408,999 22%
Company Total Persian Gulf % Persian Gulf

EXXONMOBIL OIL CORP 253,055 64,751 26%
SUNOCO INC 133,391 0 0%
CHEVRON CORP 133,112 50,885 38%
PHILLIPS 66 CO 118,538 9,008 8%
MOTIVA ENTERPRISES LLC 115,643 90,530 78%
BP PRODTS N AMER INC 99,783 15,220 15%
MARATHON ASHLAND PETRO LLC 91,074 40,151 44%
CITGO PETRO CORP 82,040 528 1%
SHELL OIL CO 58,419 0 0%

Seems Sunoco is clean, as well as Shell. This backs up previous stats I'd seen where Sunoco had 0% for 2004. BP used to have 0%, but they seem to have increased imports from the middle east. I only buy gas anywhere other than Sunoco if I can't find one nearby and am running on E.
