Sorry but I only carry a small backpack if I absolutely have to. Rain gear, spare gloves, maps, cell phone, spare shirt, etc....

For longer than a weekend I take my Beemer or the Yamaha. Hard luggage, tank bag and tail bag.

You might want to look at

http://www.aerostich.com

And Oxford Sports makes some really great lugage. Expandable with lots of pockets.

Ton Up!

Take care!

Thanks guys

TripleThreat, I'd say you've got things pretty well sorted.

Like you, my wife stays at home so lack of pillion space is not a problem.

Did you have to drill or modify anything to get the kit to fit?

What do you do for security when leaving the bike? I don't want to have to carry the pack around but neither do I want some thieving git to remove it when I'm off doing the tourist bit.

Legman, How do you turn the bike with that bag on. Seems to me the front wheel would never be on the ground.
Hey Redneck,

Despite how it looks, I have no problems keeping the front wheel down, well, no more than usual anyway. When packing the bags I make sure that the heaviest items are in the front bag which is over the seat. If you place the load like that, even with a full load the handling is not affected too badly. I wouldn't take it on a trackday at Philip Island loaded up, but as I do a lot of touring on it I can still hustle through the twisty stuff at about 90%. The stiff suspension on the '05 helps with that.

Cheers,

I believe so. I'll try to take some close-up pics and post them so you can decide...

Here are some close-up photos of the L Brackets.

Here is a close-up of the front mount - You also have to put a spacer on the front bolt of the Passenger Peg Mount, but if you are using a high mount can and no pegs, this wouldn't be necessary...

Here is a close-up of the rear mount - It actually is connected to a piece of tubing that inserts into the end of the subframe and hangs out in between the bodywork and the undertray...

As you can see, it doesn't take up much room so I don't think it will interfere with a high mount can, but that's just based on my opinion, not actual experience. Make your own judgement as I'm not making any guarantees...

Hope this helps...

Hello all,
I am new in this forum. I own a Speed Triple '04 all black red.

I am looking for a system to travel with my bike...this Ventura one seems to be really nice.

Does anyone of you mounted it on a 2004 model?
Where are the L-bracktes fixed?

Thanks,

I have a $100 Kelty daypack with an integrated camelback pouch. It's a great way to go if you're willing to attach your luggage to your body instead of your bike. I can't tell you what the actual volume is, but I've been able to pack for a 5 day trip with no problems.

I've also got a small tailpack for a rainsuit, tools, and other motorcycle specific bits.
