I was hoping to fit clip-ons onto my '06 triple. I bought the LSL set with 1" rise in which the bars mount in front of the triple clamp to give me a longer stretch as I'm 6'6".

I was dissapointed to find the clip ons contact the clocks with just a few degrees of turn, no way for it to work out. So I'm out the $240 I spent on the clips ons and bars. Cyclecat claims to be developing a set.....

Looking around, I found the LSL single headlamp conversion that mounts the light to the forks, can't tell for sure but it looks like the clocks stay stationary.

As I wish to retain the stock dual lights, I wonder if the stock headlights and clocks could be mounted to the forks instead of the frame. This would allow the use of the clip ons.

Anyone done this?

I just put on some SV650 type 2 bars from www.suburban-machinery.com. They are not as low as clip ons but clear everything including the flyscreen.

Do the clip-ons only hit the guage cluster and not the headlamps? If so, there should be several screw holes around the ignition switch on the bottom side of the top clamp where you could mount a bracket for the guage cluster. My Roadracing fairing does this and includes such a bracket. If you like, I could have a copy made if you send me a paper maquette of your current guage cluster mount so I can get the bolt pattern right. I don't know of the 05+ is the same as the 02-04 guages.

i thought about doing this too. you'll have to prob make something custom to remount the gauge cluster and in addition to that, there isnt a whole lot of room inbetween the cluster and the ignition.

which is what made me think that the entire cluster (which i think is a bit ugly) should be replaced with 2 billet pod style tacho and speedo. but then you loose all the functions of the cluster.

anywho... i digress.... if you come up with a good solution lets us all know. good luck.
