hello again.....im trying to find a triple clamp for my 95s3..nothing wrong with my current one but with the clip on bars its hard to do 500 miles without feeling kinda sore...ive noticed that tridents and sprints of the same era have a triple clamp with risers and dirt-bike style bars...any help with finding something like this would be great...id also like to avoid spending a fortune!

thanks
keep on riding

If you end up not having any luck finding a second triple clamp, you can always move the clips from their location below the clamp to above the clamp. They fit perfectly on the part of the forks that stick out above the triple clamp on the '95 models. It's only a few inches, but it makes a big difference in all-day comfort. Mine have been that way for about 7 years.

Hi Stone
Can you post a few pictures of the mod you've described?

I'll try to find them again. I had the pictures posted here for a while, in fact, when I was trying to locate a second set of the clips - the dealer I bought them from is no longer in business and I don't remember who made them. The stock clips would probably work also since it's just a relocation. I'll post them if I can find them. If not, I'll go out and take some more photos.

Here's a close up.

Also, if you look on page 2 of the "Post pics of your Speed triples NOW" thread, you can see it from a distance. The bars are about even with the top of the gas tank.

Hey Phil, how ya been?! You should visit the TWT board sometime. I'm going to try to make it out to Ming's tomorrow evening - hope to see you there!

On the handlebar swap, if you didn't mind modifying your stock upper triple tree you could probably drill it out to fit conventional handlebar mounting clamps. If you don't have the tools or expertise to DIY, it shouldn't be too hard to find a competant machinist to do it for a few bucks. Inexpensive bars and clamps could be sourced off of eBay. Of course, you would likely need longer cables and brake lines too, so before going to all that trouble it might be wise to try Stone's suggestion first to see if that provides enough of an improvement in your riding comfort.
