Laminar needs some one to volunteer their 2005/6 bike so they can build a prototype Lip on the stock Triumph fly screen. If your are interested in provding the bike it sounds like there may be a "deal" on the first lip. Here is their web site and contact info.

Following is the e-mail I received from Leo

Hello Jeff,

Thank you for your inquiry. Yes, we will eventually make one for the 05+
Speed Triple, our problem is being able to procure one locally to fit
and test one. You wouldn't happen to be local to the Southern California
area would you? If so, give us a call to stop by the shop and we may be
able to help each other out. (Deal not valid out of Southern California,
sorry...) We will be attending a the Cycle World Show in Long Beach next
weekend (not as a vendor, though) to see if we can find people with a
"we want to make a LIP for this" bikes, maybe we'll come across one.
Keep an eye on our website, as that will reflect when we've got it for
production.

Safe and pleasant rides,
Leo

I bought some clear acrylic plastic form a local plastics supplier and made my own screen. It fits across and behind the upper 'points' of the fly screen. The fly screen looks as if it was designed to have a shield fit right in there. It has a simple rounded top profile and is about 5"-6" high. I hold it in place with 4 dots of some very strong Velcro. It's the stuff thats made of plastic, not the fabric stuff. I tried that first, but it doesn't hold tight enough. The hardest part was forming the curved shape. I used a gas torch set on a broad flame and pointed it upwards on the workbench. I then held the plastic above the flame and heated it. It's very tricky to get it just hot enough and soft enough to be able to form it and not have it go all limp and self destruct! Also, it was difficult to get the whole piece of acrylic soft across the entire shape. I think an oven would be the best way, but couldn't figure out what to lay it on that wouldn't leave marks in it where it touched where it laid. It does feel like it helps a little, and it looks cool - just like an OEM piece!
I'm computer challenged or I'd post some pictures. Might be able to get my nerd friend to help me some time.

As I am writing this info, I came up with a few new ideas that might make it easier to heat and shape it if I ever do it again. :-D

My nerd friend is vacationing in Mexico right now (the bastard!) I'll talk with him when he gets home.
To satisfy you for the moment, just imagine a clear piece of acrylic that comes straight up from the upper 'points' on the flyscreen, following the screens edge lines. After about 1 1/2" upwards on the sides, the rounded curve (half circle)begins and follows a nice arc to the other side. Very simple flowing lines. (Although it took me about 5 patterns to work out how high and what rounded curve looked best.) It fits nice and flush with inside shape of the flyscreen.

Hope this helps a little. :-D
