Guys,

Anyone think there would be an issue with running Gerbings classic gloves on the S3? They draw a total of 22 watts. Just want to be sure the alt can hang...

Should be no problem i run a jacket and gloves on some occasions. Their new leather gloves may be worth waiting for as the older versions seem to be of little use when exposed to very cold airflow.

There's no problem whatsoever. I know a guy with a 02 S3 (same alternator) that runs the full Gerbing Union Ridge suit, "Hot Grips" electric grips, and extra lights with no problems. I personally run the Gerbing Jacket liner all the time without issue, and plan on buying the pants liner and a set of Hot Grips.

No worries.

Interesting post!
I have the 'thin' gloves and jacket liner and was wondering the same thing about battery drain etc.

A friend has an XT660 and he killed it stone dead using the 'ultimate' jacket and gloves. Now uses a variable control with no more problems.

Nope, had an 06 from the get go... Besides the Yamaha...

Glad to see there are no problems. I initially bought the liners and they were OUTRAGEOUSLY hot... definately need the controller!!! I took them back, too small... and bought the latest version of the classic glove. We'll see how they do!!

Thanks for the info!!

I may have a defective pair. They don't really heat up much. Anyway you won't have a problem.

Here is the review...

This is the newest version of the "classic" glove. Big guantlet style. The wiring was easy and I figured out a kewl way to get the wires to the gloves, I run them down the sleeves then put the end up through the sleeve expansion snap and run it back up under the guantlet. Worked great...

Overall I think they worked VERY well. Plenty warm if not a bit too warm. The definately get a bit warmer with higher RPM's, but for cruzin' around in the 4500 range they were perfect. I had ordered the thermostat controller, but I think I will cancel it as it is one more thing to deal with and the gloves never got out of hand heat wise...

The ride today was around 35 degs and I rode about an hour. The overall feel was good, but they are kinda bulky. But nothing worse than I was dealing with before and STILL getting cold hands. I would highly recommend them... :-D
