Stalls at idle?
I just got a 2005 S3 with about 10.5k miles. Basically stock (the only upgrade I found was different mirrors and a different front brake line).
I learned very quickly not to try to rev the engine when starting it, because the ECU freaks out. However, I'm still running into an issue where sometimes if I pull the clutch approaching a stop and drop from 3k-4k rpm down to idle, the bike just stalls. When I start it back up, it idles really low like 800rpm for about 5-10 seconds, then slowly the idle speed picks back up to normal. If I try to ride off while the idle is low like that, it will die again as soon as I pull in the clutch.
Any suggestions? Is my fuel map messed up, or maybe the throttle position?

Ah, thanks. Is that a do-it-yourself kind of thing?

Had a similar problem on an older s3. I Blew on all the breather lines from the tank and it fixed the issue

Start bike, do not touch throttle.
Open beer.
Let bike idle until the fan kicks in
Open another beer.
Wait until fan is on for a minimum of 12min..
This will reset the adaptives. See if that helps. I do suggest checking the airbox for any obstructions, mice nest, etc. As stated, checking the throttle body balance is also a good idea. You will need TuneECU and an OBD-2 cable for that.
edit: forgot to mention, if you give the throttle ANY input, ANY time you are trying to start the bike, it will make her bitchy..

Had this on a sprint rs - there is a sensor on the crank that tells the cpu if the engine is turning over or not - mine was dicky kept stalling or stopping at junctions - easy fix - well that was my prob anyway

Hey Jehos, I'm having the same problem on my bike. The shop I brought it to replaced the TPS and stepper motor, but its still doing it ($700 later). Did you happen to figure it out?

+1 on Joe's comment- Check air filter, could be something simple. Sounds like classic engine starving for air, aside from all the other technical stuff that could be causing it.

it's weird, because it only happens to me when i have the bike in gear, rolling , then i pull in the clutch and let off the throttle. if i leave the bike in neutral, with the clutch left out and rev it, it comes back down to correct idle.

You can read about my experience here: http://www.thespeedtriple.com/forum/...most-stop.html
Not to say my cause is your cause, but it's another data point for you.
