08 rad hoses- ever seen this effect..?

Guys,
1st day after getting caught in a torrential downpour, (proberly this bikes first!) I noticed this strange effect on the rad' hoses..
At first I thought it was a faulty rad cap but as you can see the area around the cap is clean, as is the engine etc.
I havn't yet cleaned the bike so i could show that the engine etc is just covered with normal road dirt with no "rad splashes"

The water in the rad is clean anyway! I would expect it too be brown and sh*tty coloured but its clean, so i think the rain has somehow affected the hoses...
-if i wet the hose, it darkens but when it dries it goes back to its wierd "camo' markings- its a black std triumph (greyish really) hose..

Whatcha think...???

It is a common effect on the stock hoses .
You can scrub them and get them to look OK.
I don't know what causes it, but the solution to the problem is sold by Samco

I would just wash them, unless you have lots of money to throw away like some do.
If that's the case, PM me and I'll let you know where you can send it.

the black tire shine stuff works on the hoses, and helps them stay black...

WD-40 will remove the discoloration. A member on the "other" site was selling hose covers for cheap and they look awesome

My '97 has seen a lot of rain and general muck but the original hoses are not effected. They get dirty, I wash the bike, they are black and shiny again.

Mine were morphing into various shades of green and brown. Tried Pro-Prep: didn't work. Fitted Samco hoses: problem solved.

Thanks for all the replies guys!

I tried various tyre blacks/ wd40 etc, etc today and i'm still not happy...
-they're a bit better but i know its an excuse for samcos....

I don't think i'm brave enough to try orange hoses though..( and all the offers/deals are on blue or black anyway.....)
