Gang,

I just installed a set of HotGrips heated grips and a powerlet power outlet on my 1050 S3. Since I couldn't find any directions on doing these I wrote up what I did and posted it at: http://www.S3.palocsay.net

I'd appreciate feedback and would be happy to add links to things you have created - or to post a writeup you'd like to have easily accessible to other riders.

I'd rather these were hosted here and if the members decide to have a how-to section I'll move my stuff and close the S3 site.

Yes, the Canyon Chasers writeup is very nice. The author is a better writer then I am and had help to take photos.

But he used the under-grip wraps and I fear those just won't work very well or very long. The wrap is directly against the left bar and the left grip is 1/8" thicker than the right so I'm sure, both as a chemist and a cook, that most of the heat will go through the bar and out rather than through the rubber grip. And on the throttle side the wrap doesn't have any strain relief and the wires are reported to break after a short period of use.

On the other hand he used the micro toggle and suggested both a relay and a distribution block - great minds think alike! I think the two write ups compliment each other nicely and will add a link from mine to Canyon Chasers

Frank,

As you can see from my BIO, I'm in Phoenix. So we don't know much about Hand warmers here.

Too bad!! It is snowing hard here right now. None sticking yet but it is cold.

I did my graduate work at UofA a long time ago and love AZ. We visited in February a couple years ago and it snowed ';> Was unseasonably warm here in VA. Susan was not a happy camper. But she wants to go back.

I added a link to Canyon Chasers, Split the writeup into 3 pages so it will load faster for those of us with dial-up access and fixed a couple errors. If you see anything else wrong please let me know.

Any sites I should link to?

Anyone here had any experience with the cartirdge style heater plugs in the other writeup on canyonchasers? These look like the easiest to install and have no wires to chafe on the throttle side.

I don't think the will work with the 1050's. I believe the bar weights bolt into a captive nut in the bars. How do the weights attach on the 2004?
