Corbin Seat for a 2011/2012 Speed Triple

My stock seat is off to Jacksonville, Florida. I spoke to Dane at Sargent and he walked me thru all of the available options. I am electing to go with the leather seat cover versus the vinyl. More maintenance but when I am doing 800 mile days in warm ass fooking temps, the leather always proves more comfortable for me.

The price is a bit more with the leather but it is worth it to me.

Also getting the Super Foam upgrade for the rider portion of the seat.

The reason I chose Sargent is because they are local to me (like to help out my state!) and they seem very eager to please the customer.

Sargent is currently very busy with every one elses' seats right now so the quoted turn around time is about 3 weeks.

Good thing I have my GSA to keep me rolling while Speedie sits seatless!

How much for the seat if u don't mind my asking ? Do u know if the Sargent seat is more flat? The current seat really forces the junk into the tank.

Because I am going "top shelf" all the way it will be around $400 delivered back to me. About $125 less if I when with the Vinyl cover.

I have requested that they make the "best effort" to widen and dish the seat. The 2011 is already very wide in the back but I am going for comfort and never plan on racing my bike--well sort of!

I used a sharpie to put a level line on the seat. I would think that when they use it to set the pan up in their rework jig the result would be a more neutral seating platform when they finish performing the super form upgrade/mods.

I will report back as to that aspect when I get the seat back!

The Custom Seat I had them make up for me came back after they re-stretched the cover and it is working out good for me. It still gets a few small bunches in it but nothing I would send back for. The comfort level is far better than stock. I rode for 3 hours straight the other day and had zero fatigue or discomfort. I have done a couple 8 to 10 hour days -- with lots of breaks -- too and it is meeting all of its needs. I want to actually ride 700 miles of slab to really test it out though!

Only down side, and it is totally expected, is because I opted for the leather cover is soaks up water like a sponge. The leather Sargent uses is very porous so it seems to be a lot worse than my Corbin seat on my GSA.

All-in-all, I think it was money well spent and by ass is happy!

I love my Speed Triple. It is amazing that a bike as crazy fast/fun as it is can be so comfy to ride all of the time.

When I had a leather Russell Day I would treat it twice a year with Sno seal, and I used a hair dryer to melt the wax into the leather then buff it out. A lot of work to me, now I get vinyl seats and put a sheep skin on it.
