I am starting to lose a little braking perf. I am thinking of changing out the front pads. Any ideas as to what I should try? I was thinking of EBC organics, but don't really know. I'll also replace the fluid with DOT 4. Again any ideas as to brand or even if DOT 5.1 is worth it? I have that silicone BS in my vette and hate it, by the way!!!

What is a source for pads at a reasonable price?

I'm thinking DOT 5 is not compatible in DOT 4 systems. Motorcycles Unlimited up on 1960 is a good source for brake pads and other things.

Just installed EBC HH sintered pads on my '01 along with valvoline dot 4 fluid (for abs--it doesn't seem to matter). Works great!

If I'm not mistaken DOT 5.1 is non-silicone [unlike regular DOT5] and compatible w/ DOT3 & 4 systems. I use DOT4 fyi.

Ditto on the EBC HH. That, plus a good piston cleaning and bleeding did wonders for my front brakes.

You're right DOT 5.1 should be compatible. However DOT 5, the silicone stuff is a NO-NO! I wish it wasn't in the old vette, but vette people tend to go that route.

Where do you guys purchase your EBC stuff? On-line?

I keep getting the standard, "call for availibility".....

man where do you get part numbers ? The MAW sight had
HD's, Indian and Jap listed, I saw no Triumph part numbers
for pads.

I tell you the biggest ***** I got owning a triumph is getting
parts and such online. I mean there many sights with full
parts diagrams for all the Jap bikes but not one for triumph.

Here's EBC Catalog...

Per EBC, HH chews rotors more than organic, which I've used happily forever...

Going back to (original) Triumph pads on next change, seemed a little snappier somehow.

Wouldn't mix different types of brake fluid, regardless of manufacturers "compatibility claims" on bottle. If in doubt, flush system completely with what brake reservoir cap on bike says (3 or 4?).

Had bone stock sea blue '82 Vette - fun to work on and drive! One of the few things that got me off bike. Anyway, don't even like silicone in b**bs, ya know?

Hope this helps!

They have very LITTLE in the way of specific triumph parts,
I was looking for a source of say clutch cables, plastic pieces,
items specific to the S3.
