Just did the 12000 mile valve adjustment on my '03. One intake was tight so when I pulled the cam I found that the cam end bearing (outboard of the timing chain) was significantly galled. The lower half of this bearing is the head itself and to fix it requires a new head.
I don't know how serious this is as the inner cam bearings are fine.
Anybody else had this issue?
Any thoughts?

Doesn't sound too good. If it was me i wouldn't run it like that. If you can't find a used head I wonder what the best fix would be. Maybe boring that one bearing and coating the journal back for the right clearance. I'd think you'd want to do some disassembly to make sure there's no metal in the oil system.

I've contacted Triumph, the bike is still under warantee.
