OK, so maybe its blasphemous, but I really dont like the double headlights on the newer generation S3. I havn't found any aftermarket single headlights, although I've found a triple headlight cluster.
If i care that much, am I stuck with a Honda 919, or does someone make a decent looking single headlight with a little flyscreen?

I've just bought an all-black 95 Speed Triple and there's only one other bike on the planet I'd change it for, a new generation S Triple BUT only if I could get rid of those dreadful "streetfighter" bug-eye headlights. You have my wholehearted agreement there.
In fact, I plan to upgrade in a few years time, and all I plan to do is buy an aftermarket single headlight I like the look of, make up whatever spacers/brackets are necessary and fit the damn thing. And then ride.

Hmm, I don't know what to say to you guys. I think the double light is one of the signature pieces on the bike. Wanting a S3 without the double lights is like wanting a Harley that doesn't spew oil all over your calf, no . . . it's like asking for a Guiness, but without the dark. It's like listening to blues without the guitar.
Maybe you guys should look into the more traditional looking Yamaha FZ1; yes, Honda's 919; or the Suzuki SV1000 or Bandit; or the less traditional but single headlighted Kawasaki Z1000; Aprillia's Tuono, or maybe a Monster . . .

It's a matter of taste, and while nobody is wrong, I agree with teacherkeith. :-)
I recall an article back in '97 or '98 that said Triumph had considered offering a single headlight as an option, but only a very small number of owners indicated any interest.
If I was to consider another nekked bike besides the S3, I think I'd look hard at the Kawi Z1000.

You can put a single headlight on the S3, I have a buddy who converted a Daytona to an S3 and used a single headlight. It looks good, and so does the T3 generation S3, but I have to say the two lights are not only cool-looking, but they are the best headlights as far as doing their job is concerned that I've ever had on a bike (granted I've only had 2 other bikes, both of which had single headlight). The visibility at night is great.

An alternative Twin Headlight. Not my cup-of-tea (I would prefer a single), but perhaps an "attractive" alternative for a twin set-up, to the round twins?
True Bug Eyes?????????

I think..the double headlight..is what makes the look of the bike...and is part of the allure behind a triple. I remember seeing pictures of hornets with double lights..and I thought they looked awesome.
If I had bought a nekkid SV, I was going to do some type of conversion to a double headlight look.
Isn't the double headlight..kind of a signature thing?
and the bug eye headlights..with the angles...make the bike look like a faired bike..that is missing the fairing. I can imagine a big piece of plastic encasing those lights.

Don't if it's still of interest, but LSL sell a single headlamp and brackets specifically for the S3. You can find them at Jack Lilley, Speed Triple, Frame Accessories.
