The tank cover on my '00 cracked at the bolt holes.
It seems the bolt holes no longer line up with the knurled nuts in molded into the tank. It seems like it got worse over time. I remember everything lining up great when I bought the thing four years ago.
I purchased a replacement tank cover (used), but those holes don't line up either. If I line up the top bolt, the holes on the sides are off by 1/4"! It's an OEM item with the Acerbis logo molded into the inside. Is the tank growing? Do the covers shrink? Anyone else experience this confounding situation? The S3 covers are identical to the D955's, right?

my friends ducati monster leather tank cover shrunk in just over a year. it actually ripped and he bought a new one that is now starting to do the same. I think you need to shop for a better solution.

The cover is molded plastic. It shouldn't distort too much, if at all. Are you sure there isn't something, like the foam insulation on the bottom side, getting in the way? Have you left your bike out in the hot sun too long so the tank distorted?

I've removed the tank completely to be sure there's no interference. The bike is rarely in the sun. It's garaged at home & work. It's the weirdest thing. I would not have expected the plastic to grow/shrink that much. It usually takes pretty high temperatures (above 200) to make that happen.
