I ride an SV and am looking for a more powerful bike with the same kind of vibe. I love the vtwin sound and the torque.

What does a 1000cc triple sound like??? Is it like a v-twin or more like an I4?? Does the S3 sound as badass as it looks???

Does anyone have any sound clips?? Thanks.

One word: YES...

If you are just looking for a loud bike, this isn't it. HOWEVER if you are looking for a unique and seriously bada$$ sound then give it a listen...

Three cylinder engines sound like nothing else. Throaty, raspy, growly, it can be difficult to describe. It's nothing like an inline four, but also not really like a twin.

It's 100% addictive. Three is the magic number.

Having ridden an SV1000 (03) for just over a year before buying my 03S3 I have to say I personally prefer the triple on almost all points.

My legs seem to tuck into the frame/tank better and the foot positioning feels more natural being 5'8.

The seat was a bit more comfortable than the SV's plank for my arse, and the leg positioning removed that issue where the sides of my legs dug into the frame/seat of the SV.

There isn't that chainsaw noise from the motor like the SV has at certain rpms. The exhaust note is just an awesome growl. The SV has a nice bassy putter to it, but there is just too much high pitched chainsaw-like noise from the twin for me.

The SV doesn't seem to be as nimble to steer as the triple and probably moreso with the 05 with the upgraded suspension.

The one thing I really liked about the SV though was that stupid amount of torque it had. The S3 might have a bit more horsepower but the SV has a lump more torque.

Long story short, to answer your question; YES.

The Triple does have a distinctive sound. I had a Meridan pushrod 750 Triple years ago, and that bike sounded awesome, so the decision was made for me when I heard about the S3. The best sounding twin I've heard is an RC 51.

I agree with the RC51 sounding awesome; no doubt due to its gear-driven cams. The S3 sounds very much like it, even thouth it has chain-driven cams. Somebody mentioned the balance shafts being the culprit. Don't know exactly what it is, but sounds great. Can't wait to hear it first hand with TORs.

Hey boys? How do you add a sound file? Is it the same as a picture?
