Best $46 mod...45T rear sprocket!

Installed the 45T sprocket today.....best mod for the $($46 from Sprocket center). I was going to do a full 520 conversion, but couldn't justify $220 when my chain was in perfectly good condition. $46, however, was a no brainer. Didn't have to break the chain or remove the wheel. She now pulls like a beast...especially in lower gears. It's a must do!

Any idea how this mod affects the speedo? How far off will it be?

Does anyone know what tooth sprocket the 2011 has in the rear? My bike is an hour away in storage.

Like been saying for a while, with stock rear sprocket, you're cheating yourself.
unless you're doing a LOT of touring and highway miles. stock sprocket makes sense, but if you're setup for the city, throw a 46 tooth on the rear

Get yourself a 15 dollar OBDII cable and hook up your speedy to your laptop, you can correct the speedo of your speedy for free.

Yes the 45T is a great mod , you will not see a significant loss of mpg . I do 70% highway 30% city , no problems . I probably lost 10-20 kms a tank. But that is mostly due to the "need" to wack the throttle open at every opportunity and pass / accelerate like a boss all the time.
Combined with the quick throttle mod .... whoopee!!

The speedo correction can not be done with a code scanner . You will need to download the freeware TuneECU and get a 20$ ( or less) ebay vag-Com cable to make your speedo corrections .

How easy is the install? What is involved?

On my 2006 I put the bike on the stand ( my stand is reverseable so I can pick up from the tire side or the chain side ) adjusted the chain slack to the max. Then I unbolted the factory sprocket .
I puled the old sprocket off, put the new sprocket into the slack chain and lined up the bolts , torque to spec and adjust the chain tension. torque the pinch bolt and test ride .
If you have all the tools at hand its a 15 min job.

As a rule of thumb for myself...on Highway for cruise I don't go over 6k rpm. But if you're doing 50/50 street and twisty, 45 or 46 should not be a problem.
