with a 18/46 (three up in the rear) top speed is only ~ 120.

I'm actually running 17/45, I thought stock was 17, I posted that before I checked. 45t is only 2 up on the 11+ stock gearing, and 17 is one down on the front. So -1/+2 from standard.

It is awesome, pulls like a litre bike should. Honestly coming off the Street Triple I was disappointed with the go of the 1050. This has sorted that bit out, although I'm still going back to the 675, it's a far better bike/engine, and the gearbox is less agricultural too.

You could have stuck with stock 18/42 its nearly the same final drive ratio.

Stock on my bike is 18/43. I wanted to try 18/45, as a lot of people said it was great. After a while I didn't like it, so put the 19 on.

Ok, i guess that makes sense, probably not as much as putting the 43 back on the rear though :S

If I want to go back to the 18 I can, with a chain adjust. I sold the 17 T I had after reading about the chain rub. I really like the 19/45 as I like to go fast...

gearing is a personal thing...its what kind of riding you do, how you ride and how you like it.

if someone wants to gear super high, then that's their cup of tea.

Anyone describe how 18/45 works on the track? I'm thinking about going to the 45 but I don't want to make the bike more wheelie prone driving off the corners.

Fair enough if you're into straight line top speed i guess, would be boring as bat **** off the line though

Its slightly better than stock, and yes it can wheelie more but all humans have a handy wheelie control device on the end of their right arms Its still too tall with 18/45 imo.

The bike feels flat and boring to me with the stock gearing, the 17/43 (very similar to 18/45) was a little better, but still didn't feel like a thousand should, i was still disappointed in the difference from the 675.
Now with 17/45 it actually has proper punch like a big bike should.
