Thanks a bunch for the heads up man. I've been looking for a review to no avail. Will hit Barnes & Noble after the 9th. Just in time before my Nov 17/18 trip to Albuquerque to test ride both the S3 and new Duc S2R1000.

Hey John and Houston, thanks a lot for that great comparo; exactly what I was looking for. By the way, both are the same report.
Man, I thought that the Monster S4R was more powerful than the S3. The S2R1000 will be anemic by comparison; only 82 hp, I think, vs 117 for the S3. I'm not a power junkie, and don't need that much on a bike like this, but the liquid-cooling alone is a big plus for me. And the last statement on the Monster rang a bell: it's a 13-yr-old design (ouch!). And the already obsolete S4R costs 30% more than the S3; unbelievable.
I think that even with its weaknesses, the S3 is my bike. Will let the test-rides decide; can't wait for Nov 17. Thanks again guys.

Yep, it sounds suspiciously high for a naked bike. They reported the S4R as 144; 130s would sound about right.

ELP_JC,

I have had 140 no problems. Just ran out of guts to push my luck with the police, the bike had more.

Here's what I have on record.

Acheived on back roads in Iowa. Granted, the speedometer probably is +/- 5-10 mph, but I had some throttle left...I wasn't too comfortable with the wind gust.

On a previous post...
