Riders,

Can anyone please advise me as to how long it takes to install the Triumph tank bag on a 03Speed Triple? I do not always want to have the bag mounted or just the straps. Sometimes I miss having a tank bag and miss the easy installation of magnetic bag on some of my previous bikes. I have searched for an acceptable bag but I am reluctant to by one sight unseen. I would spend the extra cash on a Triumph bag if it was worth the expense and not too much of a chore to put the bag on for occasional use. Any help would be appreciated.

Take a look at the RKA gear. It is very well made and fits an S3 nicely. I have the tank bag and a tail bag (basicly a tank bag w/o the map pocket). It did not take long to install - just wrap the straps around the frame (2, 1 on each side) and 1 under the seat (double over the strap and bolt down w/ existing bolt. The straps tuck out of the way nicely when your not using the bag.

I have the Triumph bag and it's a nice bag with lots of room. The main PIA is the mounting. It takes between 5-10 minutes to mount the pad. 5 minutes after you've done it a couple times, about 10 minutes the first couple. The first time you mount the pad, you have to mount two small, for lack of a better term, eyelets behind the gas tank. You have to remove the front seat to mount these and for that matter any time you mount the pad.

Once the pad is on it takes seconds to mount the bag, 4 QD buckles and off you go.

Hope this answers your question. I do like the bag quite a bit and it is very high quality construction.

If you can get the quick releases for the front seat, installing the Triumph tank bag is very easy to attach. I have the TTB and it is good quality gear.

Just been away for 10 days and this
was the first trip with the new Triumph
tank bag - I agree it's great once you get it
fitted!!!!! I modified how the pad is attached
to the tank - for my own sanity! Couldn't see
me removing the seat everytime I wanted to
remove the pad...............
Yes it's probably a girl thing.

Triple-Chick,

I've had a Triumph bag sitting in my basement for almost a year beacuse of the same issue. What did you do to modify yours?

I've been contemplating putting plastic quick releases on the straps of the bag, but am not sure how to do it without them damaging the tank paint and having them sticking up between the seat and tank all the time.

I'd love to get a tip from someone who's actually spent the time thinking it through and done it right.

Thanks,
Capt.
