I recently installed TOR's and had the map done - 20080 was the code installed.
I love the sound, but I have so much popping and crackling on decel, it is driving me nuts!

The dealer said it is just the S3's nature, it even does it with the stock cans.

Is there a better map code???
If so, does anyone know the numbers?

I live at sea level, and no California emissions restraint.

Sounds like you have a map that was made for the standard mufflers.

I do not have the map number for the map I got with the TORs, but I have had absolutely no afterburn burbling or backfires after the install.

With stock mufflers+map I had some burbling but no backfires, with stock map+TORs I had the exact same condition you are having.

I saw the sheet the service manager got the installed map code from and it was the only recommended number for the TOR's other than the California emmissions code.

I would like to contact him, armed with as much info as possible on updated codes, in case he wants to sidestep this issue and keep telling me it is just the S3 nature to pop and crackle.

After installing the TOR's I had my dealer install a new map. Bike seemed to run well but very rich. Lots of soot on cold start, accumulation around the exhaust opening. The map installed was a 2007x something. After further inquiries he found out about the 2008x series which came out in July. The 20087 map referenced in an eariler thread was loaded and seems to work fine. Very snappy response and no popping. I'm going to pull the plugs in a few days just to see what they look like.

Thanx on that 20087 code,
I thought that was the code I read about on an earlier thread.
I hope it fixes the flat spots and cleans up the sound.
I read, HP increase is minimal, It feels a little snappier on excell and I LOVE the sound --- other than the crackling, burbling & popping between shifts and the loud expolsions when chopping the throddle at 7000 rpm...

I'd like to keep the loud explosion part... it comes in handy :lgh:
