Anybody racing a speed triple?

We have a racing series here in oz called BEARS Brirish European & American bikes. I have found a 07 S3 that is a statutory write off and I'm thinking about making a race bike out of it and competing in the above series, if economically feasible.
I was wondering if anyone else was doing something similar and if so any tips and advice would be appreciated

I don't race mine, but I've used it for 3 track days. My only input is that the stock rearsets will give you clearance issues and I found that it took a lot more effort riding the S3 on the track which resulted in slower lap times compared to my track bike (which is a 600). My suspension on the S3 was done by Race Tech, I had the gold valves and springs done for the forks and gold valve and Eibach spring for the shock.

It would seem to me if you were genuinely trying to compete that the lack of a fairing would be a decently large handicap, depending on how class rules are written.

Good points, but it's more about the fun at the moment. Maybe I should be looking for a daytona

Nah go the speedy mate,less will be expected of you with a naked bike,and you will surprise a few with the triple motor....do the suspension,a bit of tuning and have some fun

Throw on some good rearsets and clip-ons and away you go! Leave em all in the dust when you rage out of the corners!!!

I'd prefer the speedy I have lots of spares and have become pretty familiar with them. I'll see how I go at the auction

The auction I was waiting for was put off to the end of the month, hopefully due to lack of interest...lol although that's just my wishful thinking.
So I'm waiting till then, the 06 one that I looked at was too badly damaged so I'm hoping the 07 model at the end of the month is not too expensive.
I've seen it from a distance and it looks to just have some cosmetic damage to the left hand side, it does have arrows high mounts and seems to have been looked after.
