What a great weekend bike ran perfectly although still missing top gear sometimes and a little more preload on the front to cope with the bumps in turn 1 which were pretty unsettling at first, van worked out better lot less of a hassle loading and unloading.
I was hoping we were using the old track as mentioned earlier but the new longer track was the one we used which for me was fine as I was very familiar with it, so while quite a few people were complaining I was just smiling.
My mission was to see how much I had improved since I was hear last and I was pumped to do well, I had never raced this series before but it was well run and you got plenty of track time (2 quali and 6 races), the extra track time was my eventual undoing as I was so tired and sore on the sunday arvo I didn't do the last race.
I qualified with a 2.26 which gave me grid 17 out of 20, but managed to get that down 2.22 in race 1 and 2.21 in race 2 which was the quickest I managed. On the sunday I couldn't even get below 2.26 and it seemed the harder I tried the slower I was getting.
I really wanted to get down to to 2.20 but it was not to be but was wrapped with my 2.21. This equates taking off the 35 scs the new section added to roughly a 1.46 a huge improvement on my original 1.58 from last April.
I've got some gopro footage of my 2.22 lap, stupid thing didn't work on the 2.21 and also a good dice with a ducati monster that I will put up on wednsday.

Champion mate. I was trying to get out there to see you but got bogged down with stuff...
By the way, I'm going out to the creek on Sunday to see Mike have a go on his TZ750 in the post classic historics.

cheers,

Phil

Seems I was the round winner last weekend in F1 naked bikes, left before the presentation but was looking on the fx web site and noticed. I guess it pays not to crash or breakdown....lol as the other guy on one of the new tuonos was much faster than me.

Cheers

Nice work Rob. Bike sounds great & seems to be running well. Yo kept those 2 or 3 other blokes behind you.
I"m no expert but I've been told to hang out wide for a bit longer on turn 1 and you can carry more speed through there but...
Haven't run the full track yet but looks like they detour you from under the bridge to the northern section?

cheers,

Phil

Yep you turn right at turn 6 and rejoin just after the bridge. I was sort of alone for most of the time, the guys in front were 5-6 secs a lap faster than me and the guys behind were 4-5 secs slower. I ended up dropping back and racing with a guy on a monster for about 4 laps.
This was race 1 I did get out there eventually trying to avoid the bumpy section on the inside.

Cheers
Rob
