Yep, you read that right. I thought that maybe I had found a Triumph dealer here in the metro Atlanta area that I could count on, but on a call to them the other day I found out different.

I called about having the rear changed since I just haven't found the time with moving recently. He told me "I can mount it, but I can't balance it. I don't have the adapter for the wheel." I was just about floored. So now I have to go back to the dealer that's in downtown Atlanta, which is much more of a pain in the ass for me.

Has anyone else run into this type of *****? I can't believe I could walk in and buy a bike, but I can't get it serviced there. Ok, my venting is over now.

I would suggest writing a polite complaint note to Triumph USA Customer Service. That's insane that a Triumph Dealer can't do a tire for you. Even your local Cycle Gear should be able to do that.

Nothing will come of it, of course. But if enough people complain then Triumph USA might put a little pressure on this place.

I can't think of a single dealer that I've dealt with that has had the equipment to change AND balance a tyre. Usually the dealer takes it across to their local tyre dealer who has all the proper gear for balancing etc. Generally it's way cheaper to take the wheel off yourself and take it and the new tyre to any car tyre specialist to fit.

I'm sure that nothing at all would come of it. Hell, about 5 or 6 years ago, I had an absolutely HORRIBLE experience at a Honda dealer. Bad enough that I wrote a 6 page letter of what happened. Ya know what kind of response I received back? A letter asking me for a survey of my phone call to Honda America when I called to find out the mailing address for a dealer complaint. Never heard word one about the issue.

I'm sure that the same thing would come of this one. Except that I could deliver the complaint personally to Triumph. I live less than an hour away from USA HQ. And the dealer in question is *very* close to that office, too.

Now I could understand a new, fledgling dealer not having something that might cost $15,000 that isn't used constantly everyday until they have some incoming cash flow. BUT the item in question is an adapter to insert in the inner hub of the wheel for balancing. Hardly a lot of money, I'm sure. Even if it cost $200, they'd make that back by being ABLE to balance any S3 or Daytona rear tire.

I'm just shocked that a TRIUMPH dealer doesn't have a simple tool to complete a job. :???:

yup, i've had mine done at the local bmw dealer. I'm not sure if my dealer could do it or not but they are seriously slacking in the customer service department so I generally don't deal with them unless I need something genuine Triumph.
