Hmm, we had five days of rain and the speed triple was under a good cover.

Today i started it and it idled roughly, like in a big sine wave, almost dying every 3 seconds.. this lasted about a minute, then the check engine light came on.

although i could drive it, and it reached operating temp, it has not idled well since, and conked out twice @ idle for no reason.

It just had its first service, and the day after that, it ran sweetly.

It has aftermarket pipes and the offroad map.

Fouled plugs? something worse? am I going to get charged by a dealer for diagnosis and repair?

In a variation of the old saying about the price of luxury cars, "if you have to ask" then yes, you'll probably need to pay a technician.

Odds are you've gotten condensation. There are so many possibilities as to where, though, that anything we say here is just guesswork. Thoroughly dry off your plugs and the leads to them, and anything else electrical you can reach. If it runs OK afterward, then a few successful startups will cause the light to reset.

But if that doesn't do the job and/or if you really want to know for sure what the problem is, there is no substitute for having someone read the diagnostic codes from the computer.

Thanks, I guess it was moisture! After leaving it coverless for over a day in windy dry conditions, it ran ok, and the CEL has gone off. Idle still isn't great when cold, but it wasn't panting like before.
