I went to check the front axle allen size on my '05 Speed Triple, thinking that it was the same 19mm as the Sprint, and the 19m hex key just freely spins around in the axle. Is it a 21mm hex (or larger), and where has anyone had any luck finding one for a reasonable price?
TIA
Dave

Actually, I believe that it is a 22mm hex and I managed to bodge the solution together for about $1. I went to the hardware store and found a nut that was about 22mm across, located a bolt to fit it, threaded the nut to the bolt and welded it together and voila! The nut fits perfectly into the hole, and the bolt end fits perfectly into a standard socket. I'm sure that you can find a 22mm hex somewhere, but I'll bet it's quite expensive (19mm is the largest "standard" sized hex). Besides, bodging is a lot more fun!

Thanks a million, looks like a trip to the hardware store for me. That's surely got to be cheaper than a 22mm hex key.

If you go to any half-way decent machine shop you ought to be able to blag an off-cut of 22 mm hexagonal bar. Probably find some in their s***** bins out back too.

EDIT: Since when has the word s c r a p been considered vulgar?
