The owners' manual described a separate adjuster cover and adjusment clamp. There is in fact only one piece. I hope at least the torque spec is correct, and the (plastic) parts don't crack so I'm dragging my lights along the road in the dark.

There are plastic parts on the 05 headlights?

Haven't noticed any plastics besides the instrument cluster when adjusting the lights on my '05. I think he has mistaken the black bulky thing that the lights and clocks bolt on to for plastic?

That's possible; I'll take a better look because I'm going to adjust again back up a little. It seemed awful light at the time, but I was busy holding the lamps up and trying to bolt the thing back on. It would be awfully unreasonable to make a part like that from plastic.

If its like my 03 then you should have a metal bracket that holds the whole front headlight/fairing/guage assembly. All you should need to do is loosen one bolt on the underside of the neck that holds the headlights. Just adjust then crank it back down. I've never had a problem with stripping threads or anything with the front end.

It's the same. Loosen 1 bolt -> adjust -> tighten bolt back.

The clamp that I ended up removing just fixed the headlamps - it did not hold the guage assembly (and I don't have a fairing). It exposed an extended pin on one piece, and a short groove in the other piece, which together serve to limit the range of adjustment.

Have people torqued to 15 Nm to their satisfaction?
