hi, can anyone help, i swapped my tt6 for a t509 this year, the 509 is a much better bike 2 ride, however as i like 2 drag race down santapod i find the japs kickin my arse, so i feel the need for more speed, so as this winters project i have just purchased a very crashed 04 955i for a small sum of £50 {not much left of it} but engine has only light damage, so what i need to know is... will the engine fit my 509 and if so what do i need to do? i have the injectors but will my pipes fit? are the wires the same? can i fit a power comander to it after as i cant fit one to the 509, and im still thinking about a turbo, will the engine take it or do u have to beef it up? i would be greatfull of any other go faster mods but cheep as poss as i am only a vinnie taking the japs on by me self!!!

That's a pretty ambitious project. I'd be surprised if anyone else here has attempted it. Good luck and give 'em hell!

I've looked into this and very carefully looked over one that's been done.

Basically you need the loom, ECU, airbox, clocks & tank, the water hoses also help.

the sensors are different so you can't use the earlier loom or ECU. and yes the engine will fit although the front mounts on top (cotton reel mount things) need cutting of to fit the later tank.

A lot of work and expence, I went the easier route, fitting a daytona lump (01) with the larger throttle bodies, changed the cams (02) and had the head skimmed down and gas flowed, took it to 140 bhp or so, I'm not great at the drag stuff but manage a couple of 10.4 quarters.

Cheers Mark.

Did your '01 Daytona engine have the shim-over-bucket head and did you use your T509 ECU?
