Have any of you guys ever done an HID headlight conversion on your bikes? I am thinking about putting a 10000 kit on my 2000 triple but I havent received any straight answers on how much power the units actually pull total. It says the lights are only 35 watts...but it may pull 120 when its starting...ya never know. At that kinda price I would hate to cut into that harness then have to eat the price when it drains my battery.

I bought a generic system from xenonfactory.com for the BMW. The biggest challenge is finding a place to mount the ballast. The Phillips unit is about 1.5x3x4. The running current is less than the halogen bulbs, I believe there's a capacitor for startup but not 100% sure.

I have been looking at MIG lights that Speigler sell for $450 and a German fairing for (unpainted) $140. They do not seem to be able to send me specs on the lights and I do not know what they are??
Are they the same as yours? what is the deal here? Need info before I spend big bucks for something that may not work. Not worth It? How is your conversion going?

Have you ever been hassled by the police over your lights? Technically they are illegal but I think bikes need a little help in the being noticed category.

the reason they are illegal is because people do exactly what this thread is talking about and put a xenon bulb in without a lense so the light gets disfused everywhere and into the eyes of oncoming traffic. with r6s and whatnot using them stock these days though I really doubt a cop will worry enough to justify stopping you for it. i think i might go find a junk bmw or porsche this winter and make this one of my projects for the cold season. thanks for the idea :-D
