Any ideas on how to encorporate a garage door opener into the S3? Any tricks out there? Cool toys? It would be nice not to have to do the hula dance to get my garage door opened and bike inside!!

I got a little programmable one from aerostich.com a few years back. It fits on my key chain and the button's big enough to activate with my track gloves on. Works great. Here's the link....

I have on my R1. I bought a little round momentary switch from Radio Shack and drilled a hole in the right switch housing to hold it. Then ran a wire with the existing loom behind the clocks and hid the opener. Had to solder the wire to the circuit board on the opener then a dab of silicon to weather proof where it goes into the opener case.

Haven't had a chance to do it on my S3 yet, but will probably hide the opener behind the fly screen. Some people go as far as to wiring in permanent power from a hot lead, but the battery lasts a long time.

I thought about mounting a GDO on my bike somewhere. Then after thinking about it I figured a keychain opener would be better so it would also be with me when I switched bikes or when I jump on the scooter. I put both my bike key and my scooter key on the GDO keychain.

I saw these on Ebay a while back and thought it was cool. All you do is flash your brights and it opens.

Those are pretty cool. This cracked me up:

Here's what I did, easy and inexpensive.

3m two sided tape and Bang - nitro button to the newbies. At least that's what I tell them.

I live in an apartment, so getting a programmable remote was not possible, I need to use the one the building supplies. It's about the size of a cigarette packet, with just one button.

I keep it in the right hand lower pocket of my jacket and can push the button through the pocket, without having to get the thing out, or even open the pocket. Gloves or no gloves, works every time and can be done whilst moving using the rear brake and clutch.

Easier than any high tech gismo attached to the bike IMHO.

I used to have a bookmark for a DIY "flash to open" garage door opener similar to this one from Motofx. All you need is a relay and any remote. I searched google but couldn't find it. :???:

*ETA*
I found one of the tutorials.

Thanks guys, lots of great ideas. I think my opener is the random code type. I'll have to check. I think I could easily wing a velcro setup... the "put in the pocket" idea is definately the easiest. I'll have to try a couple out!!

Thanks again!! :chug:
