Well, thanks to one part ambiguous part number/model information and two parts stupidity i ordered & received a scorpion slip-on can with a mid-pipe that is too large in diamater for the speed triple header pipe. (the S3 is an '03 and the pipe is designed for the DSSA Daytona).
If I might tap your expertise...
I'm kicking around the idea of locating someone who could work up a stainless steel midpipe with a taper, or modifying the one supplied. Does anyone care to weigh in on the the silencer's compatability with the S3? My hunch is that there's no difference in the actual exhaust can, though the evidence shows I'm prone to mistakes.
Also, I'm not sure if this idea would be cost effective, but it's worth considering. i may not have the option to return/exchange, and if i can it's going to likely involve a 20% restock fee. bearing that in mind, weigh in with your thoughts, if you will.
thanks, (someday i'll figure out which bike i actually own)

You should be able to find a local muffler shop who can cut and flare some stainless tube to fit. You'd probably have to chop off a section of the existing midpipe to fit the new 'adapter', but overall it would probably be a lot cheaper than returning the exhaust with a 20% restocking fee. I got a stainless exhaust pipe run up into my undertail for my exhaust experiments for like $50 so a small section of pipe shouldn't cost more than that.

thx kuhlka. looks like i may be able to send it back with only the return shipping to pay. if so, i may opt for a jardine pipe.
in the event that they do ding me up for the restock fee, i'll take your advice and start tracking down someone about the fabrication.

I have a Jardine High Mount. I think you'll be happy with it.
