Went to the mechanics this weekend and the mechanic notice some ticking noises coming from the engine.

He told me that I needed to replace the gaskets on my header and that if I don't replace them that they would damage my valves in some way.

Will replacing the gasket solve this problem?

Thanks for you help.

Possibly tightening the bolts on the headers might help. They do tend to loosen and should be checked every so often. Unless the headers have been removed previously or are going to be removed, there is really no reason for the gaskets to be replaced.

Also, what kind of ticking noise is it?? These engines do tend to tick and it could just be the fuel injection. But that is just my .000000000002 cents.

If you trust your mechanic then maybe replacing the gaskets is what you need to do. If your not sure, get a second opinion.

If you have never done a valve job on it, you could be hearing the valves ticking. It's an 01, so it is likely time.
