so is this cimply completely hopeless in this area ? I mean, within say 2-3 hours from NYC ?

I did some searches, and I am afraid that that is the sad truth. Someone, actually another Triumph dude told me about a place not too far, but I think it is an oval.

Limerock is in the northwest corner of CT, but you need a racing license and race-prepped bike to ride. Open practice for bikes are about once a month during the summer, and only and hour long. 2.5-3 hours from NYC.

New Hampshire Intl Spdway is in Loudon, NH, probably about 6 hours from NYC. There's a good selection of schools and trackdays there. This is the track I like best.

Probably the closest to you is Pocono Raceway, I think in Long Pond, PA. Faster but narrower than NHIS. Also a decent selection of schools and trackdays. I think it took me about 4 hours to get there from Danbury, CT. I would guess 2-3 hours from NYC.
