Hi all

Someone recently asked if the S3 was track capable. Just check this out! Thanks a lot to Markus Puustinen for uploading it in his web site

S3 Track Video (Montmeló GP Circuit)

Comments welcome, but don't beat my riding style too hard

Nice Video! Beautiful track.
I'm amazed they let you run with mirrors and untaped lights.

Nice one.

TORS exhausts?

How did the tyres/handling feel when powering out of the turns,?

Thanks for the video.

Mark,

I can tell you that I was very happy with my setup on the track a couple of days ago. The tires hook up very nicely... very smooth out the turns. The S3 is serious fun on the track. I was a bit tall in gearing for the track I was on as it was short, but still had a lot of fun...

Great vid BTW!!! I wish I had one!!

My opinion is that the Pilot Powers are good for track use with the "race" setting of Triumph damping:

Nice vid, drmuela :-D
A pity we can't hear the music of the S3

Hi again!

Answering to your questions: The tyres are stock. Very sticky once they heat up, but I had to replace them after 4500 Km. Most of the wear was in the 500 Km of track riding I did this summer in a couple of riding courses. The feel is great, I have no complaint about them, other that they evaporate once you're pulling hard. Not any different than any other soft tyre, though.
The person behind me rides a Suzuki GSXR 750, and I it's his sound, not mine, the one that can be heard. The guy was one of the teachers in this riding courses.
The track is Montmeló, Spain, where one of the MotoGP world championship races is run. It's a very good, very nice, very safe track. And FAST! My average speed was 125 Km/h, topping indicated 240 Km/h in the longest straight. Could improve a little bit with shorter gearing.
Taking riding lessons is something that I definitely recommend. I've taken three so far, and I always came out as a better rider than I came in. Not to mention the serious fun!! There's not a better place than a race track to take the best out of this gourgeous bikes.
And after overtaking many sport bikes, I went back home in a comfortable riding position while all the other ones were complaining about how much their back and wrists were hurting... :-D

Doh! I'm an idiot! I was wondering why the 1050 sounded so different from the 955...

That bike does sound great though.
